The activities under this theme are designed to facilitate the acquisition, updating and data processing of the characteristics and attributes of the forest, its fauna and flora, tourism activities as well as the socio-economic profile of the area of the project. This exercise will also allow for a clear picture of the current situation to emerge. It will document the issues and challenges which should be taken into account in establishing the set of values, objectives, benchmarks and targets with respect to the sustainable development of the area It will also provide data to help in the design of optimization scenarios based on forest production capacity.
This acquisition phase is followed by the operational experimentation of new concepts, particularly in relation to the development of harmonized silvicultural systems.
It is within this set of activities that partners will be able to develop and perform operational testing of new management, maintenance and monitoring tools as well as processes that will be required to ensure on-going improvement of their expertise and management practices.
