The partners have set 2010 as the target date to develop an integrated strategic plan for the sustainable development of the land and resources. By doing so, they wish to establish a set of values, objectives, benchmarks and targets for the implementation of sustainable forest management of Forest Management Unit 064-51 that will inform the Allowable Annual Cut calculation for the period 2013-2018. They also want to reach consensus on optimal yields and the measures needed to attain this goal.
This kind of exercise will lead them in determining the type of activities that could be consolidated or developed, as well as in defining the measures to put in place in order to create a synergy between stakeholders. This will maximize the benefits for the local forest communities and the neighbouring Aboriginal communities.
